Solid Wood Dovetail Drawer Boxes

Dovetail joints have been used in the construction of fine furniture and cabinetry for centuries. Craftsmen have long known the advantage of the mechanical strength of the dovetail when used in making drawer boxes along with the aesthetic beauty of the joint itself.
Our dovetail drawer boxes have 5/8” thick solid wood sides (1/2″ thick sides are available). The bottoms are made out of 1/4″ thick veneer (1/2″ veneer bottoms are available for some wood species). Drawer boxes can be ordered unassembled, assembled, or assembled and clear finished.
Wood Options
Soft maple is our most popular hardwood drawer box option. This wood species has grayish white sapwood, sometimes with darker colored pith flecks. The heartwood varies from light to dark reddish/silvery brown. This wood species also allows for knots to be present on the drawer boxes. It’s a cheaper option and the color variations give these drawers a beautiful look that blends in well with any kitchen.
For those wanting a more consistent wood color option feel free to consider hard maple drawer boxes. The creamy sapwood color is carefully selected and mineral streak may be present. Since this is real wood color variations will be present but it will be limited compared to the soft maple option. If you are looking for a hardwood drawer box option with more consistent colors hard maple might be exactly what you are looking for.
The mixed hardwood selection will consist of glued up stock with a variety of hardwoods. These drawers are attractive as we randomly mix various species for the drawer box sides. The wood comes from the fall-offs that occur during our everyday manufacturing. This is an environmentally friendly option to consider with a beautiful and unique look. The bottoms will come in maple unless you specify otherwise.
On top of the options above we can also do drawers in more wood species to get the look you are going for. If you are looking for a natural dark wood option consider our walnut drawer boxes. A handle pull scoop front is available on interior pull out drawer boxes in an ogee style.
We can provide the notch and bore requirements for undermount drawer tracks. This notch appears on the bottom and in the back of the drawer box where it will not be seen when in use and is required for some drawer tracks to function properly. Our standard back notch is 1-3/8″ wide but this can be adjusted if needed.
Cut down drawer sides can be ordered with S-Curve sides. You will need to provide the different height of the front and back side of the drawer box for us to properly quote this setup.
Hanging files install easily with pre-cut slots in 10” tall file drawers. The rail is 1/8” by 3/4″ for spans up to 24”, and 1/8” by 1” for spans over 24”. We can supply the rails with the drawers, or you can supply your own, let us know when you are placing your order. Specify whether you want legal and/or letter files and how you want them positioned.

Blum Tandem undermount drawer slides are our premium full extension soft closing undermount slides we offer. The function and feel of using these slides is unmatched and this is our go to drawer slide system.
Knape & Vogt offers a top of the line ball bearing side mounted slide option. These slides are high quality and if you prefer side mounted slides this is what we use.
